Know that the air to cloth ratio is important when evaluating and comparing a dust collectors performance. However, a “low” air to cloth ratio, by itself, does not mean that one unit is better than another.

When comparing other diesel powered portable dust collector specifications to a BGRS unit, it’s important not to make your decision based on the air to cloth ratios alone. Other portable dust collector brands use a filter cartridge which was originally designed for use in clean air environments. These require a 2.5 to 1 air to cloth ratio or lower. They require that ratio because these units have tightly spaced filter media pleats, and the internal and external metal mesh used reduces the “open area” that restricts air flow.

At BGRS we use wide spaced filter media pleats, and we do not use expanded metal on the outside. By doing this, our units eliminate the possibility of dust get trapped between the pleats or behind the expanded metal. Our systems are designed to be used with dirty air streams, and to be cleaned continuously with pulsed dry compressed air while in operation.
